The waiting room...

Have you ever been to the emergency room? Correct me if I’m wrong; but I’m pretty sure the wait was long, right? Normally when we go to the emergency room, the first thing we do is sign in or get signed in. The second thing we do is “wait.” As the clock ticks and time seems to move in slow motion, our minds may ponder. As we anticipate being seen we may wonder when the doctor will arrive.
Sometimes life can feel like a waiting room. Often we have different “ailments” in life that call for an “emergency room.” Broken hearts, scared spirits, and bruised emotions all call for immediate care. Lingering goals, dreams, and desires sometimes need “outpatient” attention as well. There are just some things that happen in our lives that we cannot control such as ailments mentally and spiritually that we cannot cure on our own. It is at these times we must seek “The Physician,” Jesus Christ.
When we have a doctor or dentist appointment, we know up front that we will have to wait to be seen once we arrive. It is rare that we complain about this type of waiting because we know about it ahead of time. Waiting is just a part of the process. We wait willingly, especially, if we are in pain because we trust that when we are seen we will leave feeling better. Even if the wait takes a little longer than normal, we wait.
Then why is it that when we are in God’s waiting room we often complain, sulk, or even leave and try to fix things ourselves? It seems that if we have the confidence in a human physician we should have even more faith in God. After all, He is that ultimate doctor. No one can fix situations, heal bodies, or change lives like He can.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”  So, if we can wait on man to see us in his waiting room, why not wait on the Lord?  It is guaranteed that waiting on Him makes every ailment better, every time!
Think about it!
